BREAKING: Warlords of Draenor Trademarked

MMO-Champion just broke news of a new trademark filed by Blizzard Entertainment.  According to MMO-Champion, Blizzard trademarked the title “Warlords of Draenor” in New Zealand and Australia.  Could this be the new expansion title?  It seems likely.

The trademark was filed for both:

  • Computer game software, computer game discs, downloadable computer game software, computer game software downloadable from a global computer network, interactive multimedia computer game program; downloadable electronic game software for use on portable electronic devices such as mobile and cellular phones, laptops, handheld computers, and tablet PCs.
  • Entertainment services, namely, providing on-line computer games; providing on-line non-downloadable computer games that may be accessed via a global computer network; providing online news and information in the field of computer games.

Additionally, MMO-Champion confirms that the “www.warlordsofdraenor.com” domain was registered to Blizzard Entertainment approximately a month ago.  The New Zealand and Australian trademark websites do not allow for direct linking, so MMO-Champion has provided screenshots of the trademarks (click on the previews below for full images):

Although there has been a lot of speculation regarding Blizzard’s new World of Warcraft expansion, including another trademark, “The Dark Below”, this new trademark may be the winner.  The WoW community has been theorizing that we may be headed back to outlands in a future expansion.  In a previous interview, Ghostcrawler did not deny that Illidan may be returning in a future WoW release.  Furthermore, most of the community has assumed that one of the future expansions would focus on the Burning Legion.  With all of this taken into account, it seems like “Warlords of Draenor”  is most likely our next expansion title.  Remember, this is pure speculation and nothing is confirmed.  What do you think?  Let us know in the poll below:
